Poetry: Big Daddy Energy by Kristin Garth

Big Daddy Energy
 for Jimmy Page

You choose me, before I know who you are,
to spend a week in the life of a middle aged
rock star. Far from your home, you’d like a strip bars
close by though you are well past the phase
when you buy sex, even desire it from
someone like me. You have no expectations
from transient company who comes
to you in glitter and pigtails chosen
by your own bodyguard. I had a crush
on your drummer who let me down hard —
after invited drinks, two blonde winks, rushed
to his hotel room. You pick up his discard,
hug me hard — he is who I used to be.
I met you when you had big daddy energy.
