Poetry: Selections from Devin Rogan

The Short Version

i became
alive by accident

now i am
responsible for
this life!
!!

? It feels like when
someone asks you
to take a photo

of them
with their phone
and for a second
you imagine
dropping
it, breaking it
forever
then changing your
name
out of
mortification

OK See You Later

The world
wakes up
mad!!!
It remembers
evolution
is finite . . . .
this just makes it
more mad!!!

If you are faithful
to being alone
you are in good company

because so is the world
the world is alone
it is just itself and
Being alone
is what the world does best

Activate

A picture of the tooth fairy
May exist !

when we get better . . . .
Cameras !

I am just spit balling
On future technology here

(Relatedly Please let
there be
a future
filled with
magical properties
that will make up for any
discrepancies
between
what
is
and what
should
be)

Leaning on Something Soft

A wise notion
For life
is to be a goalie for a soccer team
And shrink your mind
and learn useful skills like goal keeping

Engage yourself
with a definite object
Let a psychic tell you
this is your destiny-
A soccer-based destiny

There are no rules in life
But there are in soccer

Conserving Energy

I
Recall the
Sandwiches instead
of
the conversation
but I still
Find the
moment ! more
beautiful than
the stupid charm of
Satisfaction (?)

(there will come
a time !!! when
this will be
useful
to
you)
