Poetry: Gummy Jerks by Ken Tomaro

Gummy Jerks

there is a thin slice of anxiety called the sun
peeking through a horizontal slit in the clouds
the sky is a five-layer cake of colors,
heavy with white swirling frosting
the seagulls dotting this confectionary landscape
like candy sprinkles
while the gummy sour patch people
melt along the sidewalks
