What Remains Beautiful
There comes a point when keeping things separate becomes more about habit than necessity.
Translucent Eyes Press began as a place for certain books that seemed to need their own room. A little stranger, a little more difficult to place. It gave us somewhere to put work we believed in without asking it to explain itself or behave.
But things change.
Anxiety Press has grown into something larger and stranger than what we imagined when we started it. The distinctions between the two presses have become increasingly meaningless. The books have been bleeding into one another for a while now. Same obsessions. Same appetite for the uncomfortable, the neglected, the damaged, the difficult to categorize.
So we're tearing down the wall.
Translucent Eyes Press is ending as a separate imprint and folding into Anxiety Press.
This isn't an obituary. Nothing is being erased.
The books already accepted by Translucent Eyes Press will still be published under the imprint. They will be the final Translucent Eyes Press titles. The name will remain on every book published beneath it. Those books belong to that imprint, and we're not interested in rewriting their history.
After those final books are released, all new work will move forward under Anxiety Press.
The books remain. The writers remain. The reasons we published them remain. They'll simply become part of the larger history we're building with Anxiety Press.
Maybe that's where they belonged all along.
We have never been particularly interested in building institutions for the sake of maintaining them. If something stops serving the work, we get rid of it.
Translucent Eyes Press served the work.
Now Anxiety Press will carry it forward.
