What Remains Beautiful
Obsession: 001
Eros understood that desire becomes most dangerous when treated seriously. Some months ago, we decided to take that proposition seriously.
We wanted
to begin where Eros left off and discover what remains when its appetite
is dragged through the present. We named that result Choke.
It has now
been sent to the printers.
Inside are
pleasure and punishment, beauty and obscenity, flesh and commerce, appetite and
restraint, the machinery built around desire and the shame manufactured to keep
it profitable.
It is not
a facsimile, a revival, or an embalmed exercise in mid-century elegance. The
artists and writers have done their part. The pages have been assembled. The
files have left our hands.
What began
as an idea is becoming the thing we intended it to be from the beginning: a
physical object. Substantial, deliberate, and made to be held.
Choke is now in production.
What comes
after it can wait.
For now, we can suffer with what we made.
